It is going to be difficult to understand how to upgrade your gear in Dragonflight 10

It is going to be difficult to understand how to upgrade your gear in Dragonflight 10.1 at first because Blizzard has completely redesigned the gear upgrade system. Among the many changes that have been made are the addition of new gear tiers and ranks, the addition of a new currency, and the introduction of a Crest system. I will walk you through the mechanics of this new system so that you can begin gearing up as soon as the new patch goes live.

New Ranks and Tiers for Items

The new upgrade system places certain items of a given ilvl into one of several new tiers or ranks, based on the types of materials that can be used to improve them. As you progress through the levels of the upgrade, you will require increasingly valuable currencies. There are eight ranks in each gear tier. Gear with ranks 1 through 4 is considered to be of a lower level than gear with ranks 5 through 8, which are considered to be of a higher level. Let's take a look at the names of the different tiers of equipment now.

New Forms of Money

How exactly does one go about improving their equipment now that we are familiar with the various types of gear? The players are going to have to get used to an entirely new system because the one they are familiar with, known as the Valor system, has been retired.

Flightstones are going to replace common currency as the new form of currency that players will have access to. In contrast to Valor, which can only be acquired by completing Mythic+ content, Flightstones can be acquired by completing content found in the world (such as killing rares, World Quests, and events), as well as dungeons and raids. Because of this, farming for Flightstones is relatively simple; however, players have a maximum storage capacity of 2,000 Flightstones at any given time. When upgrading a piece of equipment to a higher tier, flightstones will be required at every level.

Crests for newly upgraded gear

Combining fifteen Whelpling's Shadowflame Crest Fragments results in the creation of a Whelpling's Shadowflame Crest, which is the upgrade token for the lowest tier. These fragments can be obtained by defeating LFR Aberrus bosses, completing Mythic Keys 2-5, completing world quests, looting treasures, or purchasing them from Spinsoa. Players can talk to Spinsoa, a non-player character, in order to exchange their Unearthed Fragrant Coins for either boxes of Whelpling's Shadowflame Crest Fragments or Drake's Shadowflame Crest Fragments. This can only be used to upgrade lower level Explorer gear or Explorer gear of a low level. Through the use of the Work Order system, Enchanters have the capability of transforming these Crests into Enchanted Whelpling Crests. In order to complete the recipe, you will need one Whelpling's Shadowflame Crest, thirty Chromatic Dust, five Vibrant Shards, and one Resonant Crystal. Crafted gear can be upgraded to an item level of 395-408 with the use of Enchanted Whelpling's Shadowflame Crests.

The Drake's Shadowflame Crest are the next tier up, and their fragments can be obtained by vanquishing Normal Aberrus bosses, Mythic Keys 6–10, Zaralek Cavern Weekly Events, Zaralek Cavern Weekly Quests, Rare Elites, Fyrakk Assaults, and Spinsoa. Additionally, you can obtain Drake's Shadowflame Crest fragments by completing Weekly Quests in Zaralek Cavern. The untimed keys will award five fragments, while the timed ones will award twelve fragments. Gear of a higher level that belongs to the Veteren or gear of a lower level that belongs to the Champion can be upgraded using Drake Crests. It is not possible to enchant drake crests in order to improve crafted gear.

It is comparable to the Primal Focus items that players could acquire in the first season. Wyrm's Shadowflame Crest is a unique item. In order for players to acquire this item, they will need to acquire Wyrm's Shadowflame Crest Fragments through the completion of Mythic Keys 11-15 and Heroic Aberrus boss fights. The untimed keys will only give you five fragments, but the timed ones will give you 12. The Wyrm's Shadowflame Crest can be crafted by players once they have collected 15 fragments and combined them together. In contrast to Primal Focus, they can be used for more than just crafted gear. These can be put to use to upgrade Champion gear of a higher level as well as Hero gear of a lower level. Three Wyrm's Shadowflame Crests, sixty Chromatic Dust, ten Vibrant Shards, two Resonant Crystals, and one Dracothyst are required in order for an Enchanter to create an Enchanted Wyrm's Shadowflame Crest. Crafted items can be upgraded to level 424-437 with the help of the Enchanted Wyrm's Shadowflame Crest.

The Aspect's Shadowflame Crest is comparable to the Concentrated Primal Focus, and its pieces can be acquired from the bosses of the Mythic Aberrus dungeon as well as from Mythic Keys 16 and higher. There is a difference of 12 fragments between timed and untimed keys. These Crests are required to upgrade Hero gear to level 441, which is the maximum possible level and the final Crest. It is necessary to have four Aspect's Shadowflame Crests, 80 Chromatic Dust, 15 Vibrant Shards, four Resonant Crystals, and two Dracothysts in order to craft the Enchanted Aspect's Shadowflame Crest with WotLK Gold. Crafted gear can be upgraded to an item level between 434 and 447 with this.

There are two crucial aspects of the Crest system that you need to be aware of. To begin, during the first week of the second season, players will only be able to obtain a maximum of 150 of each type of Crest Fragment. Crest Fragments, much like Valor, have a maximum number that cannot be exceeded; however, this maximum number will increase by 150 every week. Second, after you have upgraded a particular piece of equipment with a Crest, you will no longer need Crests to upgrade any additional items that go into that same slot in the future. For illustration purposes, let's say that you upgraded some shoulders with an Aspect's Shadowflame Crest, but then you obtained some other shoulders that had better stat weights. You will not need an Aspect's Shadowflame Crest in order to upgrade these new shoulders, but it will cost you fifty percent of what the original Flightstone did. This enables players to shift their focus away from patiently waiting for their best in slot item and instead upgrade the items they already possess.

Because of the way that this system operates, you should strive to obtain an item with an ilvl as high as possible before upgrading it in order to reduce the total number of Crests that you need to spend. To get the most out of your Crest, you should focus on reaching rank 8 as quickly as possible rather than working your way up one or two ranks at a time. Alternately, players have the option of stockpiling Crests in order to increase the item level of crafted gear to 447.

Shadowflame's Latest Ignition Source
The Spark of Shadowflame has been added as a new required item for crafted gear, taking the place of the Spark of Ingenuity. This item does increase the item level of crafted gear to between 411 and 424, but the increase is dependent on the skill of the crafter. The same way that players obtained the Spark of Ingenuity, namely by completing quests that become available once every two weeks, is how they will obtain this item. In the first week after installing patch 10.1, players will have the opportunity to acquire their first Spark of Shadowflame. Sparks of Shadowflame do not have any kind of limit or restriction placed on them at this time.

In patch 10.1, all of the information that you require to successfully upgrade your equipment is included. Remember to carefully plan out your upgrades during the first few weeks after the patch has been installed, and we wish you the best of luck on your journey.
