It is going to be difficult to understand how to upgrade your gear in Dragonflight 10.1 at first because Blizzard has completely redesigned the gear upgrade system. Among the many changes that have been made are the addition of new gear tiers and ranks, the addition of a new currency, and the introduction of a Crest system. New Ranks and Tiers for Items
The new upgrade system places certain items of a given ilvl into one of several new tiers or ranks, based on the types of materials that can be used to improve them. Crests for newly upgraded gear
Combining fifteen Whelpling's Shadowflame Crest Fragments results in the creation of a Whelpling's Shadowflame Crest, which is the upgrade token for the lowest tier. These fragments can be obtained by defeating LFR Aberrus bosses, completing Mythic Keys 2-5, completing world quests, looting treasures, or purchasing them from Spinsoa. The Drake's Shadowflame Crest are the next tier up, and their fragments can be obtained by vanquishing Normal Aberrus bosses, Mythic Keys 6–10, Zaralek Cavern Weekly Events, Zaralek Cavern Weekly Quests, Rare Elites, Fyrakk Assaults, and Spinsoa. Additionally, you can obtain Drake's Shadowflame Crest fragments by completing Weekly Quests in Zaralek Cavern. The untimed keys will award five fragments, while the timed ones will award twelve fragments. Gear of a higher level that belongs to the Veteren or gear of a lower level that belongs to the Champion can be upgraded using Drake Crests. It is not possible to enchant drake crests in order to improve crafted gear.
It is comparable to the Primal Focus items that players could acquire in the first season. Wyrm's Shadowflame Crest is a unique item. In order for players to acquire this item, they will need to acquire Wyrm's Shadowflame Crest Fragments through the completion of Mythic Keys 11-15 and Heroic Aberrus boss fights. The untimed keys will only give you five fragments, but the timed ones will give you 12. There are two crucial aspects of the Crest system that you need to be aware of. Because of the way that this system operates, you should strive to obtain an item with an ilvl as high as possible before upgrading it in order to reduce the total number of Crests that you need to spend. To get the most out of your Crest, you should focus on reaching rank 8 as quickly as possible rather than working your way up one or two ranks at a time. Alternately, players have the option of stockpiling Crests in order to increase the item level of crafted gear to 447.
Shadowflame's Latest Ignition Source
The Spark of Shadowflame has been added as a new required item for crafted gear, taking the place of the Spark of Ingenuity. This item does increase the item level of crafted gear to between 411 and 424, but the increase is dependent on the skill of the crafter. The same way that players obtained the Spark of Ingenuity, namely by completing quests that become available once every two weeks, is how they will obtain this item. In the first week after installing patch 10.1, players will have the opportunity to acquire their first Spark of Shadowflame.
